3 December 2011: important festivities for Midj!

On Saturday 3 December 2011 at the inauguration of the new Midj headquarters, the work of our company was presented by its President Paolo Vernier, who reminded us, above all, how the Midj adventure is directly linked to the Vernier family: the company was founded in 1987 by Paolo and his wife Roberta and is, today, also led by their children Miriam and Rudy. “We began with a capital sum of 13 million lire, assembling chairs in a former chicken coop,” said Paolo Vernier. “Today, we have a turnover of 13 million euros, 70 employees and partnerships with leading international designers.”

Many designers who collaborate with Midj attended the inauguration, including maestro Giorgio Celiberti and the interior designer Titti Giovannoni, wife of the Honourable Renato Brunetta, who participated by telephone, and many other authorities: Francesco Toneguzzo and Ivo Chiarot, respectively the mayors of Cordovado and Sesto al Reghena, the President of the Provincial Administration of Pordenone Alessandro Ciriani, the President of Confindustria Friuli-Venezia Giulia Alessandro Calligaris, and Daniele Gerolin representing the Friuli- Venezia Giulia Region.

The Honourable Renato Brunetta pointed out that the hope of our country lies in the ability of people to roll up their sleeves and work hard and in their creative talent: all the features that we can find in the wonderful Midj experience.  Alessandro Calligaris emphasised how Midj represents excellent “made in Italy” products and that in order to grow our country needs to further support and protect its products and their high quality, which is demanded all over the world. Alessandro Ciriani, on the other hand, reminded us that the crisis must not be accepted but addressed, as shown by Midj, which even in these difficult times has decided to continue investing in the company. Francesco Toneguzzo emphasised that with research and innovation, we can continue to grow and safeguard employment despite the crisis. Ivo Chiarot said, in such times of crisis, we need to follow a system and strengthen social cohesion, since we can learn from the experience of Midj, which has relied on teamwork to reinforce its strengths. Daniele Gerolin mentioned how important it is for politics to play its role in order to address the crisis, with adequate action taken to support the production sector.

The ceremony ended by officially awarding the winner of the Premio Giovani Talenti di Design – Renato Brunetta 011, the competition created due to the prestigious partnership between Midj, the Honourable Renato Brunetta and the training organisation ENAIP Friuli-Venezia Giulia. The prize was awarded to the “Sieda” design project by Andrea Petitti (to find out more about the competition named after the Honourable Renato Brunetta click here). The General Manager of ENAIP Paola Stuparich was also on the stage, together with Paolo Vernier and Titti Giovannoni, to award the winner.
